Bishop Donald Hilliard, II

Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr. is the senior pastor of Cathedral International, The Historic Second Baptist Church in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where he has faithfully served for more than 35 years. Under his pastoral leadership, the church has experienced sustained and strategic growth, expanding into one church in four locations across New Jersey while maintaining a strong theological and community centered foundation. Recognized by the American Baptist Churches USA as a model for church growth, Cathedral International has become a multifaceted ministry that reaches thousands locally and globally through in person worship and livestream engagement, with future expansion planned through the development of a new campus in Cranbury, New Jersey.

Dr. Hilliard’s ministry extends beyond the pulpit into transformational leadership and community impact. As founder and CEO of the Cathedral Community Development Corporation, he has overseen initiatives that address mental health, family life, education, and urban renewal, positioning the church as a catalyst for civic and social transformation. His pastoral vision integrates gospel proclamation with practical care, resulting in churches that are spiritually vibrant, socially relevant, and institutionally strong. This same vision has shaped his preaching, teaching, authorship, and mentorship of leaders across denominations and generations.

As the founder and Presiding Prelate Emeritus of the Covenant Ecumenical Fellowship and Cathedral Assemblies, now known as Covenant Fellowship Alliance, Bishop Hilliard has served as a spiritual father and architect of interdenominational collaboration. Consecrated as a bishop in 1995, he established CFA to provide covering, accountability, and empowerment for pastors and churches committed to integrity and effective ministry. Though retired from active presiding leadership, he continues to serve as Bishop Emeritus and influencer, offering wisdom, counsel, and example to leaders across the nation. His legacy reflects a life marked by faithful service, visionary leadership, and a continued willingness to say yes to the call of God.
